Current Swallow Boats entries for Sail Caledonia are the Claus Riepe SeaRaider Craic (abandon hope all ye who enter here) and my BayRaider.  My boat will be tweaked to within an inch of its life by the time we get to next June.  But it probably will not be enough to overcome the handicap of its incompetent and unfit captain and crew....

Be careful what you wish for!
I HAVE retired...and so I cant afford a Bayraider.  Doh!

(15 grand buys a whole lot of holidays for 2 in the sun. Which would YOU choose? A Bayraider on Carsington Ressy or CBL Four Sisters in the Ionian?  )

Sorry Tony. I think I might choose the BayRaider. With another couple of weeks saving I could probably afford to buy an Ionian Island anyway, if the Greek economy keeps on its current trajectory.

And welcome to the forum Andrea. Do you have a Swallowboat?

Three of the twelve current entrants for Sail Caledonia are Swallow Boats.  I am relieved that there is now another BayRaider competing in addition to my own.  I do not rate my chances against the SeaRaider.

There are now 16 entrants to Sail Caledonia, of which four are Swallow Boats with the addition of an as yet anonymous BR20.  The other three new entries are Multimonos from France, an interesting water-ballasted beast that was reviewed in Water Craft recently.

Hi Claus. Hope alls well with you? Are you still going to Brest this summer? If so,how does it compare with Semaine du Golfe? Someone told me it gets very busy and might not suit a smaller boat. Is that your view?

All the best

Hey Tim,
where you been, man?

Brest: Four times the boats of Morbihan, but only half the fun. Except you fancy tens of thousands of visitors drinking and roaming the quays day and night, and dozens of Samba bands battling it out nonstop. Spectacular parades off- and onshore, brilliant fireworks, and the tallest ships afloat, but nothing useful really for the sail and oars. 2008 the weather was rotten btw. I heard from our mutual whaling friends that the Douarnenez festival which follows Brest is much nicer. We will not go to Brest this year, other projects in Ireland. Our next stop is Sail Caledonia.

The three Multimonos are not going to compete in Sail Caledonia after all.  No reason given.  There are still four Swallow Boats entered.

Probably not.  Good luck with the rest of the build.
