Has anyone else noticed that Baycruiser 20 no 2 is on the market?
Check out page 78 of Watercraft Magazine No 91 and you will find this and a Storm 17, for sale, both at almost give away prices. I think this BayCruiser is the one I reviewed for WaterCraft No 79. If so, someone is going to get themselves a really good deal. I loved it and would be first in the queue if I had the money. I am thinking of starting a \\\"lets all buy Dad a new boat for Christmas\\\" appeal to soak up some of my kids spare cash that they would otherwise be wasting on non-essentials like food and mortgages. I ll let you know how I get on. |

Hi, Guy.
Yup. Thats the one. Matt has the helm and Im peering coyly over the cabin top. Powerful sail, that, and very controlable if I remember correctly.
We\\\'ve swapped seats in the photo below - by Nick Newland - Shows the sail plan off very well.

I don\\\'t have any experience of the fully battened sail. I am sure it gives better shape and may stop it flogging about in stays. I have heard that full battens can make it more fiddly to bend on the sail in the first place. I think fully battened possibly looks a bit better than the single high full length batten I have, but not enough to make me want to change.
One very useful use of the full batten last year was poking out a stone that was jamming my centre board! I just couldn\\\'t shift it by banging the board and thought\\\"If only I had a long, narrow. rigid strip of something to poke down the slot\\\", and then I remembered that I did. Only took a minute to get it out of the sail and it worked a treat. So now my batten justifies its presence on the boat, with at least two uses.

The fully battened sail works well, it is much easier to control the upper sail shape and it helps the sail flake when lowering. The only annoyance is that the battens tend to foul the lazy-jacks when hoisting.
