Swallowboats was started in 1995 by Nick Newland as a kit boat producing business. In the summer of 2004 Matt Newland (Nick's son) joined the firm and after careful consideration decided to expand into complete and custom designed craft. However, swallowboats still rely heavily on kit production and have continued to learn from and improve their kit craft.
