BayRaider 17: plenty of room inside

There have been rumors circulating for some time now about the possibility of designing a smaller sister to the BayRaider 20 open boat.
Lack of time has been the main constraint on the development of what we believe will be a popular and versatile little boat.
Imaginatively named the BayRaider 17 she will attempt to carry over many of her bigger sisters virtues into a smaller lighter package. She will retain the water ballast, the self draining cockpit and ketch rig, as well as the decked ends, spray hood and camping arrangements of the 20.
Weight reduction will be a major concern during her design and development. Here in West Wales there are many beaches where you can launch boats, but taking even a good sized 4x4 onto them can be fraught with danger in the soft sand. We hope to make her light enough to unhitch and wheel down the beach by hand, thus allowing all tide launching at many beautiful locations.
The reduced weight makes her easy to launch, recover, manhandle on your drive and of course, gives excellent performance. Except in bad conditions, but that is where the water ballast comes in.
We have currently taken 4 orders for these exciting new boats. If you would like to join this list, please get in touch.

Proposed layout
The BayCruiser 23 is essentially a lengthened version of the 20. She has been designed as the maximum boat the average family might tow for a weeks holiday, or consider taking away for the weekend. She will have many features making her quick and simple to rig, such as the carbon mast set in a tabernacle and ultra shallow draught  for dry hubs when launching.
Inside she will have room for two quarter berths and a vee berth forward, with heads under,  or under the bridge deck.  Losing one quarter berth would give room for an enclosed head if this is desired.
The first boat has been commisioned as a sloop rig, but as with all our new builds, we offer a large degree of customisation.
The first BayCruiser 23 will be on display at the London Boat Show, Jan 8th-17th 2010 on the Classic Boat Stand. Please contact us if you would like to know more.

Spacious cockpit and good cabin space on a yacht of this size

This is a boat we have been thinking about for some time. A boat with traditional good looks and salty appearance that will set her apart from the crowd, yet utilising modern construction materials and methods to keep performance, maintenance and safety in line with or better than todays craft.
Details are all to be confirmed but she is around 24ft in length, with a cedar epoxy strip planked hull and lifting keel to reduce her draft to little over a foot. We envisage a traditional interior, but could tailor this to suit individual owners.
