BayRaider 17: plenty of room inside

There have been rumors circulating for some time now about the possibility of designing a smaller sister to the BayRaider 20 open boat.
Lack of time has been the main constraint on the development of what we believe will be a popular and versatile little boat.
Imaginatively named the BayRaider 17 she will attempt to carry over many of her bigger sisters virtues into a smaller lighter package. She will retain the water ballast, the self draining cockpit and ketch rig, as well as the decked ends, spray hood and camping arrangements of the 20.
Weight reduction will be a major concern during her design and development. Here in West Wales there are many beaches where you can launch boats, but taking even a good sized 4x4 onto them can be fraught with danger in the soft sand. We hope to make her light enough to unhitch and wheel down the beach by hand, thus allowing all tide launching at many beautiful locations.
The reduced weight makes her easy to launch, recover, manhandle on your drive and of course, gives excellent performance. Except in bad conditions, but that is where the water ballast comes in.
We have currently taken 4 orders for these exciting new boats. If you would like to join this list, please get in touch.
