The bottom two hull panels and several bulkheads being wired together The first SeaRaider, named Craic by her owner, was build during Feb/March/April 2006 in our workshops in West Wales. The construction went very rapidly thanks to significant early investment of time to ensure that most problems were solved before work started. A sample of the construction photos are show here.
Hull panels wired together The temporary jigs on the transom hold the curvature The building cradle on wheels so that an initial inspection of shape can be made before gluing up Some of the interior structure in place The aft buoyancy chambers, the cockpit floor and several tools... View from the stern before the decks go on. The Blue and Grey are west system pigments which help ensure a thorough coating of epoxy. A mock up of the planned rudder head which is to be fabricated in stainless steel The decks go on giving her hull a high degree of rigidity The rubbing strip and gunwale will be important visual aspects to the completed boat It helps to have a large number of clamps - the cockpit coamings going on. The undercoat on and the boat outside. Still a lot of work remaining |
