The first SeaRaider was deliberately capsized as part of her tests for the EU Recreational Craft Directive.  We are very pleased with the result. As calculated, she self rights from a knock down if her ballast tanks are full, and even when empty, she only requires help from one person on the board to right her.

She self rights from a 90 degree knockdown, and requires considerable weight walking out along the sealed hollow mast to invert her.

In addition to the self righting, her other great feature is the self draining cockpit sole, which is about an inch above the external water level. Once righted, climbing back on board and releasing the main aft bulkhead hatch lets water flood rapidly out through the outboard well. She is free of water and ready to sail in minutes, without the need for bailing.

We will soon be adding a video of her self righting from a knockdown.
